Ilkay Gündogan posts Twitter message to Celtic support, fans will love this

Ilkay Gündogan has revealed that playing under the lights at Celtic Park is the best atmosphere he has played in throughout his career.

The Manchester City midfielder saw out the full 90 minutes of his side’s Champions League clash at Parkhead against Celtic back in September, which ended in an enthralling 3-3 draw.

The former Borussia Dortmund ace Gündogan replied to a fan on his personal Twitter account as saying that he “still gets goosebumps” when thinking about the atmosphere at Celtic Park.

A brace from Moussa Dembele and an own goal from Raheem Sterling saw Celtic earn a 3-3 draw against City, after Sterling, Nolito and Fernandinho had got their name on the score sheet.

Celtic failed to progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League from Group C, as City and Barcelona occupied the two qualifying slots, while Gladbach finished third.

The Germany international has played at Dortmund’s Westfalenstadion, Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena and Premier League champions Leicester’s King Power Stadium, but believes Celtic Park tops the lot.

Currently nursing an anterior cruciate ligament injury, the former Nurnberg ace is unlikely to return for the rest of the season as City look to claw in league leaders Chelsea.

The Bhoys will be playing in front of Gündogan’s favourite place once again on Saturday, as they play host to Hamilton in the Scottish Premiership.

In other Celtic news, this striker’s agent has revealed why his client joined the 47-time Scottish champions.
