Darren Bent has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur should make a real effort to land Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale in the near future.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs striker claimed that his old club need to think about replacing Hugo Lloris sooner rather than later, and that the 21-year-old Englishman could be a good option for Jose Mourinho’s men.
The Mail reported earlier in the week that both Tottenham and London rivals Chelsea are keen on taking the Cherries stopper to the capital this summer.
And Bent believes that it could prove to be a worthwhile pursuit for the north Londoners.
“I like Ramsdale, I think he’s a good goalkeeper,” he told Football Insider. “I’m a big fan of his.
“It’s always a funny one. Hugo Lloris, he’s getting on a little bit, he’s made mistakes as well. He’s been prone to errors in recent times. But I know what it’s like.
“I think he’s a very good goalkeeper, Ramsdale, and he should be afforded time, but I know Spurs fans will be like ‘no, we’re better than that’, so it might not work for them.
“But he’s a great keeper and they need to look to the future.
“They need to invest soon in a goalkeeper. That is a key position.”
Ramsdale has been a virtual ever-present for the relegation-threatened Cherries this season, starting all but one of their Premier League matches.
So far he has conceded 44 goals in 28 appearances on the south coast.
