Agbonlahor View: Aston Villa player tipped for debut v West Ham tonight - Exclusive

Gabriel Agbonlahor has tipped new Aston Villa signing Morgan Sanson to make his debut against West Ham United on Wednesday evening.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer insisted Dean Smith will not make any changes to his starting XI but he expects Sanson to be the first substitute introduced.

The Frenchman moved to the Midlands giants last month from Ligue 1 side Marseille for a reported initial £14million that could rise to £15.5million.

He was named amongst the substitutes for Villa’s 1-0 win over Southampton at the weekend as Smith made just one substitution – Marvelous Nkamba replaced Ross Barkley late in stoppage time.

“It’s a real headache now for Dean Smith,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider.

“I’m sure he wants to give Anwar El Ghazi game time because he was in great form, Trezeguet’s back and he was in OK form.

“Now you’ve got Sanson in contention.

“I’m sure it will be the same team that started the last game, I don’t think Dean Smith will make any changes.

“Sanson will probably be the first one to come on, for Luiz or McGinn to give them some rest or maybe even Barkley.

“Definitely it’ll be a similar team and Sanson will get his first chance.”

Aston Villa have one of the most settled sides in the Premier League with 10 of their 11 players effectively picking themselves.

The only area Smith has made unenforced changes is on the right-wing where El Ghazi, Trezeguet and Bertrand Traore have all enjoyed spells in the team.

In other news, Michael Brown has scorned Aston Villa for “rushing” into a new signing.
