Kevin Phillips has admitted he is surprised it has taken this long for new West Ham signing Said Benrahma to move to the Premier League.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the 1999/2000 Premier League golden boot winner said he expects the forward to “get better and better” in the top-flight.
The Hammers confirmed on Friday night that the Algerian has moved to the London stadium after this site revealed earlier in the week that he was undergoing a medical.

The 25-year-old has joined on an initial season-long loan deal with the Hammers having an obligation to make the deal permanent at the end of the campaign.
“It was a deal worth doing, he’s got that technical ability,” Phillips told Football Insider.
“He’s pretty similar to Diangana to be honest but probably that end product is a little bit better, more consistent last year wasn’t he.
“I know he had his injury problems last year so that hampered him a little bit.
“I’ll be really interested to see how he does going there.
“Bowen as well took a while to get going at West Ham.
“He was a good signing and he’s getting better and better and I think Benrahma is the same.
“It’s a big step up to the Championship, but I’m excited to see him in the Premier League.
“I’m surprised it’s taken him that long to be honest.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a like for like replacement, but West Ham supporters can be a little bit satisfied now.
“With the disappointment of Diangana moving on they can be excited about another young exciting player coming into their club.”
Benrahma scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in 46 Championship games for Brentford last season as they reached the play-off final.
In other news, it can be REVEALED that West Ham have laid the groundwork for a January signing after agreement reached.
