'In today's market, fantastic value' - Paul Robinson reacts as West Brom in pole to sign duo

Paul Robinson insisted it is pivotal that West Brom sign Matheus Pereira and Filip Krovinovic permanently if they achieve promotion to the Premier League.

The former Leeds United goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, stressed both deals hinged on which division the Baggies will be in next season.

Pereira, 23, and Krovinovic, 24, on loan from Portuguese outfits Sporting CP and Benfica respectively, have been key figures for the promotion hopefuls this season.

As revealed by Football Insider, Slaven Bilic’s side have an obligation to buy the Pereira for an £8million-plus fee upon the completion of 45 minutes in 30 games this season.

Robinson claimed signing the loanees requires no thought if the touted price tags are correct.

“I do not think they will be able to keep Pereira and Krovinovic if they stay down,” he told Football Insider.

“They have both done very well this year. If West Brom do not go up they will struggle to keep hold of their better players.

“The position they are in, they look like they are going to go up. It would be key if they do go up to tie those two down on a permanent deal.

“In today’s market, for players of their quality, and players that know the club and the manager – it is a no brainer signing. It is not even a calculated risk for that kind of money in today’s market it is fantastic value.”

Baggies fans will be reassured as Football Insider revealed earlier today that FIFA is proposing a set of emergency measures to restrict player movement until the leagues are completed.

This would guarantee Pereira and Krovinovic’s availability for the final, promotion-deciding, nine games of the season.

In other West Brom news, Paul Robinson has told Football Insider a summer move for Championship goal-machine may be on the cards.
