INEOS risk player revolt at Man United as stance on Michael Carrick’s future made clear

INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe must seriously consider handing the Manchester United job to Michael Carrick permanently.

The former player has won seven of his 10 matches in charge at Old Trafford, including back-to-back wins over Man City and Arsenal, leading to a current third-place standing in the Premier League table.

Of course, seven league matches are remaining, which could totally change the situation, and several big-name managers are keeping tabs on the interim manager’s results.

Man United face a managerial decision ahead of the summer, and Carrick’s success throws a huge spanner into the works, and so too does how the players feel at the Theatre of Dreams.

Michael Carrick has already made an incredible impact at Old Trafford

Ahead of the Red Devils’ Premier League clash against Leeds United on Monday, 13 April, Amad Diallo has been speaking very openly to the press, happily blowing his manager’s trumpet.

He said: “We think he’s the right man [to get the job]. He has not been here long, but he has been doing very good and his relationship with the players is very good. Sometimes you need this kind of manager to bring the club where they belong.”

While he may not speak for everyone in the squad, when there are so many rumours circulating about the manager situation, it could not be clearer that Carrick is wanted to stay at Old Trafford.

The likes of Roberto De Zerbi, now at Tottenham, Gareth Southgate, Oliver Glasner, Andoni Iraola and Unai Emery have all been linked with the job, but the hierarchy could risk losing several players with a change.

Stars could follow Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes out the exit doors

Multiple stars have already been linked with an exit this summer, though Football Insider understands that Man United could keep Bruno Fernandes if Carrick gets the job permanently at the end of the season.

Casemiro is already set to depart when his contract expires this summer, but INEOS run the risk of upsetting more members of the squad by disrupting the equilibrium currently at Old Trafford.

Kobbie Mainoo, Amad and Benjamin Sesko have all sparked back to life under Carrick’s leadership, and if these players are forced to acclimate to a new boss, they do so elsewhere instead.

Of course, the hierarchy cannot base their entire decision on how the players feel, with much of the squad likely to be moved on in the coming seasons, while a manager could be for much longer, but it is something to consider.
