Injured Tottenham star sends Twitter message to fans

By Danny Wright

Erik Lamela has taken to Twitter to deliver a message to Tottenham fans after his surgery.

The Tottenham star has been out of action since October and the club recently revealed that he will miss the remainder of the season.

He posted on his personal Twitter account saying that the surgery was a success.

Initially, Lamela was only expected to be out for a short period of time but it now looks as though the Argentine will finish his campaign having made just 14 appearances in all competitions.

Lamela has been at the club since moving from Roma in 2013 and has made 121 appearances across all competitions since, scoring 19 goals and providing 31 assists.

The 25-year-old was hoping to take part in the Spurs run-in which included an FA Cup semi-final showdown with Chelsea in late April.

However his frustration with his injury problems has led there to be a reported lack of trust between himself and the Tottenham medics, which has left his future at the club in doubt.

Supporters have also raised concern about the backroom treatment of injured players as Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Harry Winks are also on the sidelines at the moment.

By the time Lamela is back in action at the start of the 2017/18 campaign, he will have missed 10 months of football.

In other Tottenham news, the club’s pursuit of this player has taken a blow after Chelsea close in on a £15million deal.
