Injury expert predicts Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall return date as Everton fans left in the dark
David Moyes has refused to give out any further information on the return of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall after the Everton star’s latest injury.
Everton have already lost Iliman Ndiaye to AFCON, with the same going for Idrissa Gueye, and the likes of Seamus Coleman and Jarrad Branthwaite are still being treated for respective injuries.
Ahead of facing Arsenal on Saturday, 20 December, Everton lost 2-0 to Chelsea, leaving them ninth in the Premier League table, and Mikel Arteta‘s side are desperate to keep their spot at the top of the standings.
There was already concern that Jack Grealish would miss the clash with Arsenal, though he has now been cleared to play. The same cannot be said about Dewsbury-Hall, however.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could return for Nottingham Forest
Speaking in his pre-match press conference (19 December), after being questioned about whether he had a return date for the player, Moyes said: “Yeah, we have, but I’m not telling you.”
Taking to Premier Injuries (19 December), injury expert Ben Dinnery, in response to Moyes’ lack of an update on the star midfielder, predicted a return date of 30 December.
This would see Dewsbury-Hall miss the home clash against Arsenal on Saturday, 20 December, and the away trip to Burnley on Saturday, 27 December, before being ready for Nottingham Forest.
Very few supporters will be expecting a positive result against the North London side, but with the Clarets unlikely to claim anything from that meeting, his return would be huge at the City Ground.
Dwight McNeil could haunt his former team after new injury
The attacking midfield spot will be up for grabs after the injury to Dewsbury-Hall, and either Carlos Alcaraz or Dwight McNeil could stake their claim for a starting position.
Having been left on the bench against Chelsea, the latter was given 17 minutes against Forest, and supporters are waiting patiently for his former self to re-emerge on Merseyside.
During the 2024-25 campaign, McNeil notched five goals and six assists, but this season, the 26-year-old has zero Premier League starts to his name and just 91 minutes.
This is the perfect chance for the former Burnley attacker to spark back to life, but those at Turf Moor will be hoping for the opposite, given he has two assists in three games against his old club.
