‘Insane’ – Man City fans desperate to beat Bayern Munich to ‘Kyle Walker replacement’

Man City supporters are excited about the prospect of Pep Guardiola finally being able to fill the gap left by Kyle Walker’s departure.

Walker has been in fine form for Burnley, with the 35-year-old starting all 11 of the Clarets’ Premier League matches, seeing them floating above the relegation zone on goal difference.

There was a significant passing of the torch at the Etihad during the summer, with Kevin De Bruyne joining Napoli, and while he is irreplaceable, multiple talents have been supplying Erling Haaland.

Phil Foden, Tijjani Reijnders, Jeremy Doku, and Rayan Cherki have all been creating for Man City, and the defence has even solidified in recent games. But that doesn’t mean there is room for improvement.

Man City to battle Bayern Munich for Givairo Read

The right-back spot could possibly be one of Guardiola’s biggest weaknesses, with Matheus Nunes and Abdukodir Khusanov playing out of position, or Rico Lewis given a chance.

According to Fabrizio Romano (21 November), Man City have added Feyenoord’s Givairo Read to their list of transfer options, with Bayern Munich also interested in the 19-year-old.

It is safe to say that fans are excited about the prospect of his signing.

Walker created history during his time at the Etihad, but some fans already believe that the Dutchman could fill his boots as he continues to prove himself in the Netherlands this season.

With three assists in 15 total games this season, having notched 10 goal contributions from defence last term, multiple teams are likely to queue up for his signature, so City will need to act quickly.

Who is Feyenoord’s growing defensive star?

After coming through the FC Volendam academy, the young full-back made just one first-team appearance for the newly promoted side before signing for Feyenoord.

He has yet to win his first cap for the Dutch national team, but having already made his debut for the Under-21s, it feels like just a matter of time before he is on the senior international stage.

Feyenoord are unlikely to let Read go for a bargain, with a number of clubs interested in his signature, and with his current deal running until 2029, there will be no desperation to let him go either.

It is clear that Man City fans are extremely excited about his potential arrival in the Premier League, but they will need to battle hard if he is to choose the Citizens over Vincent Kompany‘s side.
