Insider: Clarke could be set for Tottenham first XI after Hotspur Way promotion

Jack Clarke has been given another chance to save his Tottenham career after continuing to train with the first team.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Wenham has revealed Clarke, 21, has spent more time training with the first team at Hotspur Way after being promoted from the Under-23s during the international break.

The attacker has only amassed 95 minutes of first-team minutes across four outings during his time at the club.

He joined Tottenham from Leeds United in a deal worth up to £13m in July 2019 and Wenham has previously cast doubt on his long-term future.

However, he insists this may no longer be the case following Antonio Conte’s arrival.

“Another player who trained with the first team after the break was Jack Clarke,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Who knows, maybe we could see him on the bench over the coming weeks?

“There is a new chance for Clarke to reinvigorate himself under a new manager.

“We have seen it so many times with new managers coming in and players finding a new lease of life.

“It happens and I won’t rule it out with Clarke but I would urge a degree of caution after being here for so long without making the grade.”

Clarke has made 10 appearances in the Premier League 2 this season.

He has failed to score but has registered four assists.
