Insider: Davies 'shouldn't be at Tottenham' and has no future after 'awful' display
Ben Davies should not be at Tottenham despite starting in the heart of the defence in Antonio Conte’s first game.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Davies, 28, was handed his second start in six days as Tottenham won 3-2 against Vitesse.
The left-back started on the left side of a back three as Conte immediately moulded Spurs into his famous defensive system.
Davies was lucky to not give away a penalty early on in the game but provided the assist for Spurs’ third.
Wenham insists Davies should not be at the club and claims he has not future under Conte.

“Davies was awful against Manchester United,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I don’t blame him for that though, he shouldn’t be at Tottenham.
“We could have signed any left-back from any of the bottom 10 clubs in the Premier League and it would have been the same.
“He’s not good enough and really, he never has been. He’s been at Tottenham a long time now.
“But he has always been backup and there is a reason for that. You might give him a run-out in the Conference League.
“You don’t start him against Man United. He doesn’t have a future here, I don’t see it.”
Tottenham are next in action against Everton on Sunday.
This will be Conte’s first Premier League game since a 3-0 loss to Newcastle in May 2018.
