Insider excited by 'incredible' Kane development that's 'exactly what Tottenham need' ahead of tonight

Tottenham can only benefit if Harry Kane is handed a start when England face San Marino tonight.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

This morning (15 November) The Daily Mail reported Kane, 28, has begged Gareth Southgate to start him against the European minnows.

This comes after the England captain bagged a hattrick in Friday night’s 5-0 win over Albania.

This means Kane has now scored more competitive England goals than any other player.

However, the striker has struggled to get going in the Premier League this season, scoring once in 10 appearances.

Wenham insists Tottenham can only benefit if Kane is given the nod to start against San Marino this evening.

“That hat-trick is exactly what Tottenham needed,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I never normally want Kane to play in irrelevant England games but I hope he gets the nod tonight.

“We need him to continue this goalscoring form and that will only grow his confidence ahead of a return to Tottenham.

“We have a very winnable run of fixtures coming up and we can get wins in those games if the Kane we all know starts.

“A few goals against San Marino, which he will get if he starts, will only boost his confidence further.

“I was really pleased to see him get that hat-trick. His third goal was incredible.

“For me, there are only positives if Kane starts tonight.”

Kane needs 11 goals to break Wayne Rooney’s record 53-goal haul for England.

He has achieved this feat with just 66 caps to his name.
