Insider: Gollini’s Tottenham career could be over amid Hotspur Way ‘rumours’

Pierluigi Gollini’s Tottenham career could be as good as over if he fails to start against Morecambe.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Gollini, 26, has made eight appearances for Tottenham since joining the club on loan from Atalanta in the summer of 2021.

On 20 October, Wenham told this site the stopper’s move will become permanent if he makes 20 appearances.

However, after only making one appearance under Antonio Conte, Wenham claims a snub in Sunday’s (9 January) game against Morecambe could render his Spurs career as good as over.

“The goalkeeper situation really interests me,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I’ve heard some rumours that Conte is not impressed with Gollini.

“He has made eight appearances this season and he needs 20 for his loan move to be turned into a permanent move.

“That would be a £13million signing and I can’t see Gollini making those 20 appearances.

“Could we see Alfie Whiteman or Brandon Austin play against Morecambe as a result?

“I think that would be a big indication of where Gollini’s future lies under Conte.

“From another point of view, it would be great to see one of our young goalkeepers given a chance.”

Gollini is yet to play in the Premier League as Hugo Lloris remains the club’s number one.

The majority of his appearances have come in the Europa Conference League.

In other news, Fabio Paratici is calling ‘every day’ as Tottenham work on closing a marquee signing.
