Insider verdict on Tottenham completing '£40m' Skriniar deal after loan-to-buy already agreed
Tottenham will not pursue a move for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar this January.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Wenham previously told Tottenham fans to pay no attention to Paratici’s comments when he ruled Tottenham out of the race for Dusan Vlahovic.
However, on this occasion, Wenham can’t see the club splashing out on another defender after acquiring Cristian Romero in the summer.
“Skriniar? I don’t think so,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“We have invested heavily in Romero. Admittedly we won’t pay anything until next summer, it’s a loan with the obligation to buy.
“That will be our only big spend in the centre back position for a while I would imagine.
“The club will be keeping tabs on players like Tanganga and Rodon through the season.
“Then we will see where we are next summer. I personally don’t see a January move for Skriniar.
“I know he’s rated highly but he’s another £40million player who takes up a non-homegrown spot in the side.
“I don’t see that one happening. Eric Dier has also done really well this season so there is no need to spend another massive fee on a defender at this time.”
The defender’s current deal will expire in the summer of 2023.
He has made nine appearances in all competitions and scored two goals.
