There has been widespread reported interest in the Senegalese international, but it appears the French outfit have won the race to sign him.
Sakho has been out of favour since David Moyes arrived at the club, and his sale will free up some funds for the Hammers to find a suitable replacement.
Football Insider verdict:
Diafra Sakho has been a good rotation player for West Ham, and has showed his natural goal scoring ability during his time here. His injury past has come back to haunt him on one occasion, as he almost signed for West Brom before failing the medical, so this could be another hinderance for the striker. Rennes are inheritting his physical and direct style of play, which will serve him well in the French Ligue One, where he will be able to dominate. The money received, although thought to be less than previous offers, will help West Ham to bring in new players to sure up their squad.
In other West Ham transfer news, the Hammers have been told to double their initial bid, if they want to sign this pass master.
