Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos has revealed he is inundated with photo and autograph requests by Rangers fans after scoring seven goals in his first eight appearances.
New goal hero Morelos moved to Ibrox over the summer in a £1million move from Finnish side HJK Helsinki and Rangers fans have been impressed with the 20-year-old’s goal-scoring exploits.
The striker, who is nicknamed ‘El Bufalo’, had a prolific spell in Finnish football – scoring 46 times in 62 games for HJK – and has carried that form on in Glasgow; leading the Scottish Premiership’s scoring charts with five goals in as many games.
Many expected Morelos to play back-up to Mexican striker Eduardo Herrera but Morelos has won all the plaudits after a fantastic start to his Ibrox career and Morelos admits he is excited to run out at Ibrox every other Saturday.
“It’s a very different pace compared to the game I played in Finland,” Morelos told the Daily Record, “it’s played with more intensity, it is physical and the aerial side of the game is important.
“But to play for 90 minutes, you have to be well prepared. It’s a competitive league. I’m happy to be at the club and in this league. It’s good.
“It’s very exciting for me just now. I’m playing for a big club. Their fans always fill the stadium.
“Every time I go to the shops, I’m asked for a photo or an autograph.
“The fans have supported me and given me love and support.”
Morelos has scored twice in each of his last two games for Rangers – against Dundee and Ross County – and the striker will be looking to continue scoring going into the upcoming Old Firm clash with Celtic on September 23rd.
Pedro Caixinha’s side face two trips to Firhill to face Partick Thistle before Brendan Rodgers brings his Celtic side to Ibrox for the first time this season.
