‘Iraola to Tottenham after Postecoglou sack update to delight Dominic Solanke’

Dominic Solanke is likely to be the player most excited by the latest managerial updates to emerge at Tottenham.

Back in the summer transfer window, Solanke completed a move to Tottenham from Bournemouth on a six-year contract until the end of the 2029/30.

His first season with Spurs though has not gone well, with the club languishing in 14th in the Premier League.

They have also been beaten in both the FA Cup and League Cup, leaving the Europa League as their only hope of silverware.

That has led to regular calls from Tottenham fans for Ange Postecoglou to be sacked, and the Australian’s primary potential replacement will no doubt please Solanke.

Andoni Iraola targeted to replace Ange Postecoglou

According to a report from The Athletic, Spurs have made Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola their top target should they decide to replace Postecoglou in the summer.

It is thought that a £10million release clause in the Spaniard’s contract at the Vitality Stadium will not be an issue for Tottenham if they elect to change managers, which appears to be a growing possibility.

Meanwhile, Iraola was recently tipped to walk away from Bournemouth if he receives an offer from a club with greater resources.

That may mean it is no surprise if the 42-year-old does move to north London prior to the start of next season, especially if Postecoglou cannot deliver the Europa League for Tottenham in the coming weeks.

Should that be the case then Solanke may well see that change as a boost when it comes to his own personal prospects with Spurs.

Bournemouth boss to rejuvenate Tottenham star again

He may have only spent one season playing under Iraola at Bournemouth, but that showed the effectiveness of the pairing of Solanke and the Spaniard.

After Iraola took charge of the Cherries in the summer of 2023, the striker enjoyed an excellent campaign, which earned him his big money move to Tottenham.

Prior to the start of the 2023/24 season, Solanke had never previously come close to surpassing double figure for goals in a Premier League campaign.

During that season under Iraola though, he would find the net 19 times in the league, and 21 times in 42 appearances in all competitions, a rate of a goal every other game.

Like most Tottenham players Solanke has had injury issues this season, but even without that, his rate of goals during the current campaign has been nowhere near as a efficient.

As a result, the striker may well relish the chance to once again play under the manager who brought the most effective return out of him terms of goals in his career.

Of course, the fact that Bournemouth have surged past Tottenham in the Premier League table this season, could also add to the appeal of reuniting with Iraola amid his burgeoning reputation.

With that in mind, Solanke may well be one Spurs who would certainly not be all that disappointed to see this managerial change come the end of the season, while the likes of James Maddison may also be hoping for a change from Postecoglou.
