Darren Bent has dubbed new Everton star Alex Iwobi as the “perfect teammate” as he raves over the winger’s dedication to the cause.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and England striker says that the Nigerian international has an impeccable work ethic and that his squadmates will love playing alongside him.

The 23-year-old joined the side at Goodison Park in a deadline deal from Arsenal, having been a mainstay under Unai Emery last season.

Bent, who is a boyhood Arsenal supporter, says that he could not criticise Iwobi’s desire in any way whatsoever, insisting that he is the sort of player that others love to play with.

Bent told Football Insider: “If you talk about work ethic, attitude towards the game, I don’t think there’s anyone better. I think he always works hard, always gives 100 per cent.

“He’s one of those guys you want in your team because he works hard and does everybody else’s running.  He probably is the perfect teammate with regards to his work ethic and attitude because he leads by example and work ethic.”

Iwobi was a regular for the Gunners during his final season in north London, featuring 51 times across all competitions as he and his teammates reached the Europa League final.

He has 100 games of Premier League experience under his belt, netting 11 goals and setting up his teammates with 19 assists.

In other Everton news, Danny Mills has told Football Insider that he believes Marco Silva is bending the truth over his transfer claims.
