‘I’ve been screaming at Celtic to spend the money – they will sign a diamond’
Celtic have been urged to start utilising some of their financial superiority and develop a multi-club network around the world.
The Glasgow-based side have won 13 out of the last 14 Scottish Premiership titles, with the only slip-up coming back in 2020-21 when Steven Gerrard guided arch-rivals Rangers to the trophy.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 21 June that Celtic landed more than £43million in prize money as a result of last season’s league triumph and their exploits in Europe.
However, Brendan Rodgers’ side were denied a domestic treble as they were beaten by Aberdeen on penalties in the Scottish Cup final.
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has claimed that Celtic will once again be shopping abroad this summer as they continue their “tried and tested” scouting method overseas.

‘Celtic will uncover a young diamond’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness told Celtic to utilise their wealth and set up a network of clubs around the world that would help them develop players.
The likes of Chelsea and Manchester City already have these types of systems in place, which often allows them to easily send players out on loan, and bring in prospects at a cut price.
Wyness added that he “expects” Celtic to uncover star talent every single year.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I’ve been screaming at them (Celtic) for ages to spend some of that money, but to spend it on a multi-club network and develop that throughout the world. They haven’t been listening yet.
“They’ve got the money to do it. Overall, it isn’t broken, but they’ve got to just fix a couple of little things. They’ve got to maintain that dominant position.
“This summer, I think they’ll be shopping again, looking for that from tried and tested scouting situations overseas. I do expect Celtic every year to uncover a young diamond somewhere.
“Brendan’s got the basics of a squad there to build on. He’s still got to keep adding and I think they need more in that striker position, but they’ve also got to focus on that great recipe of bringing in young talent and selling them on for lots of money.”

‘Celtic plan to accept £20m Nicolas Kuhn offer’
Meanwhile, Celtic are reportedly determined to keep Nicolas Kuhn at the club beyond the summer transfer window amid interest from the likes of RB Leipzig and Newcastle.
This is according to former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that Brendan Rodgers values the 25-year-old as a crucial part of his plans.
However, Brown added that offers in excess of £20million are likely to force the club’s hand and they may be powerless to keep hold of the German despite their reluctance to sell.
