'I've had a chat' - 23-year-old responds to reported Rangers interest
By Harvey Byrne
Motherwell defender Ben Heneghan has hailed Rangers as a huge club after their reported interest, but has stated he has not yet had any contact.
The Daily Record claimed earlier in the month that the Glasgow giants were set to make a formal move for the 23-year-old with a £500,000 valuation.
However, there has not yet been a move from Rangers according to the player with the Scottish Premiership season ending on Sunday afternoon.
Heneghan himself has said it’s nice to be recognised, but he is focused on playing for Motherwell and that he has had a “chat” with his current side.
“As far as I know, I’m a Motherwell player. We’ll see what happens over the summer,” told Heneghan, as quoted by the Evening Times.

“But I’ll be back in here pre-season, as far as I know. It’s nice to have the recognition but it’s not coming from me.
“There hasn’t been any contact with me. I just keep my head focused. If something happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, I’m happy here.
“It would be some leap from non-league, you could look at it that way. But I just keep my head down, enjoy my summer and get ready for pre-season.
“They’re huge clubs, known world wide. But, until I know any different, I’m here at Motherwell. I’ve got another year on my deal at Motherwell. I’ve had a chat. But, until I hear anything concrete, I’m still here.”
Heneghan has played a key role at the back for Motherwell this season after joining from non-league outfit Chester last summer.
The former Stoke and Everton youth player played in 37 of the 38 Premiership matches for his side and helped his side retain their status in the Scottish top-flight by four points.
Rangers meanwhile will be searching for additions this summer and Caixinha may see Heneghan as a player of potential who can grow in his back four.
The Gers had youngsters Aidan Wilson and David Bates as their centre-back pairing in the 2-1 win over St. Johnstone on Sunday, but Caixinha may also be looking for a player of more experience.
In other Rangers transfer news, Derek McInnes has responded to reports stating Ryan Jack is set for Gers medical.
