Jack Grealish and Rico Lewis reacts to Omar Marmoush’s ‘final’ Man City message

Manchester City reached the FA Cup Final for a third season in a row after their 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola‘s side have had a campaign to forget in almost every respect, and Man City were knocked out of contention for the Premier League, Champions League and EFL Cup many months ago.

The FA Cup, however, remains a potential silver lining for City to salvage at least one positive from an otherwise below-par season, and two early goals at Wembley on Sunday put them in yet another decider.

Rico Lewis got the Blues off to the perfect start at Wembley with a strike inside the second minute, and Josko Gvardiol did likewise five minutes into the second half with a bullet header to make the score 2-0.

Forest did their best to hit back in the last 40 minutes and Man City transfer target Morgan Gibbs-White hit the woodwork twice, but Guardiola’s side showcased their elite-game mentality and closed out the victory.

Omar Marmoush sends clear message to Man City fans

Unlike Forest, City failed to sell out their ticket allocation at Wembley, but amid concerns over prices at the Etihad Stadium for next season, Guardiola’s side will return to their second home again next month.

However, since this season’s first trip to the capital for the Community Shield, City have added firepower to their frontline in the form of Omar Marmoush, who is ready to take on Crystal Palace in the decider.

Marmoush’s pinpoint corner was bulleted home by Gvardiol to double City’s lead and put one foot in the final, and at full-time, their January arrival posted on Instagram (28 April) with a six-word rallying cry.

The under-fire Jack Grealish and first goalscorer Rico Lewis both liked Marmoush’s post, which read: “On our way to the Final – SOON.”

Marmoush has already solved key Man City problem

He may have been thrown into the limelight by Erling Haaland’s injury against Bournemouth last month, but Marmoush has more than proven he’s got what it takes to be a regular starter in Guardiola’s side.

Much was expected of Marmoush after his £59million move from Frankfurt in January, and the Egyptian has lready manasged seven goals and three assists across just 17 City appearances in all competitions.

Ex-Man United scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that Guardiola has five “top-class” signings in the pipeline already this summer, but any new arrivals will have a tough task to displace Marmoush in the first XI from here.
