Jack Grealish reacts to poignant Chloe Kelly post amid Man City exit links
England Women’s hero Chloe Kelly has taken to social media to share a memory from the ‘happiest day of her life’, drawing attention from Jack Grealish and Declan Rice.
The Arsenal winger has been one of the stars of the Lionesses’ run to the European Championship final this summer, registering an assist in the quarter-final against Sweden before netting a 119th-minute winner against Italy in the semi-final.
England will now take on Spain in a repeat of the 2023 World Cup final, looking to avenge a 1-0 loss in that showdown.
“I think Chloe thrives on these moments. She’s excited about them, she loves those moments. You can tell,” England boss Sarina Wiegman said of Kelly following the win over Italy (Sky, 23 July).
Chloe Kelly shares wedding memory
Despite the intensity of a deep run at the Euros, Kelly has still taken time to celebrate her first wedding anniversary on social media.
Kelly posted a picture of herself and husband Scott Moore — previously a groundsman at Everton — taking their wedding vows, with the caption: “One year on from the happiest [day] of my life. Happy anniversary.”
England men’s stars Grealish and Rice were among the high-profile names to drop a like to Kelly, who has now hit the 1million follower mark on Instagram.
To date, Kelly has 58 caps for England, scoring nine goals along the way — including three at major tournaments.
Jack Grealish nearing Man City exit
While Grealish has been keeping up with events on social media, his team will be working hard on finding him a new home after being frozen out at Manchester City.
The 29-year-old joined the Cityzens from Aston Villa in 2021 and has since notched 17 goals and 23 assists in 157 appearances across all competitions — helping Pep Guardiola’s side win three Premier League titles and a Champions League, among other honours.
However, Grealish has fallen down the pecking order over the last couple of years, playing just 1,716 minutes of Premier League football since the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Aston Villa | 213 | 32 | 43 |
Man City | 157 | 17 | 23 |
Notts County | 39 | 5 | 7 |
England | 39 | 4 | 8 |
With Rayan Cherki joining from Lyon this summer, Grealish’s chances of improving his situation at the Etihad Stadium look even slimmer.
As reported by Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke, Grealish is set to lead a three-man City exodus this summer alongside James McAtee and Kalvin Phillips.
The 39-time England international has two years left on his contract and is currently attracting attention from Everton, West Ham and Newcastle.
