Jack Grealish’s friend reveals latest on stunning Aston Villa return this summer

Jack Grealish is unlikely to leave Man City and return to Aston Villa this summer despite his shock exclusion from Gareth Southgate’s England squad, according to his friend Alan Hutton.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa defender insisted the 28-year-old wants to fight for his place at Man City and earn a return to the England setup.

Hutton, who is a good friend of Grealish’s after spending seven years together at Villa Park, insisted the winger still believes he can win back his place in Pep Guardiola’s plans.

Grealish was dropped from Southgate’s provisional squad for Euro 2024 after making just ten Premier League starts for City last season – a decision which has left him “hurting”.

Jack Grealish return to Aston Villa now unlikely as Man City exit stance revealed

Football Insider previously reported that City would be willing to entertain offers for Grealish’s signature this summer.

However, Hutton insisted that, as much as he’d love the winger to return to Villa Park, he has “unfinished business” at the Etihad.

I would love to see it happen,” he told Football Insider.

I’d love to see him back helping Aston Villa compete at the top end of the Premier League and winning trophies.

I don’t think it’ll happen this summer, if I’m totally honest. He’s got unfinished business at Man City, he wants to get back in and be a regular starter.

They’re one of the best teams in the world, so it’s going to be hard to get back in. He’s going to have to play at the top of his ability.

He knows that and he feels that he can do that, and then he’ll be back in the England squad.

I don’t think it’s a great decision by England to leave him out, because I think he’s different from everybody else they’ve got, especially off the bench.

I know him well and he’ll be hurting from it, but he’ll want to prove everybody wrong.”

In other news, Douglas Luiz has reached an agreement with Juventus over a summer transfer.
