Jack McKenzie incident at Dundee Utd v Aberdeen shocks pundit, life ban wanted
Aberdeen defender Jack MacKenzie was caught up in a worrying incident at the end of his side’s defeat to Dundee United, leaving one pundit stunned.
The two sides went head to head at Tannadice Park on Saturday afternoon (17 May) on the final day of the Scottish Premiership season.
It was Jim Goodwin‘s side who claimed a 2-1 win in that match, coming from a goal down to claim victory thanks to goals from Declan Gallagher and Sam Dalby.
That result ensured that Dundee United leapfrogged Aberdeen to finish fourth in the final standings in the Scottish top-flight.
However, the match was then marred by some ugly scenes at full time, which ended in a worrying way for MacKenzie.

Aberdeen star struck by object thrown from crowd
At full time in the game, a number of Dundee United fans ran onto the pitch, seemingly in celebration at the result.
That apparently did not go down well with some of the travelling Aberdeen fans, and after things had died down, MacKenzie could be seen being taken from the pitch in a wheelchair with his head bandaged.
Dundee United boss Goodwin then later suggested that the Dons defender had been hit in the head by an object thrown from the section housing the Aberdeen fans themselves [Sky Sports].

MacKenzie had been an unused substitute in that game, and taking to X after the game, McManus was quick to criticise the actions of those involved.
The former Hibernian and Dundee FC forward who now works as a pundit gave a strong verdict on what happened, writing: “Wow. Shocking behaviour.”
A subsequent post from McManus saw him describe the incident as “disgraceful scenes”, claiming that the individual response “in the Aberdeen end should be weeded out and banned for life”.
Jack MacKenzie incident must spark action
Football Insider Verdict
It has since been reported that Police Scotland are appealing for information after MacKenzie was struck by part of a chair which was thrown by an Aberdeen fan [Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph].
The fact that this is already being looked into by the authorities is absolutely no surprise, given the seriousness of what happened.
The sight of MacKenzie being wheeled from the pitch in the way that he was is not something that anyone should want to see on a football pitch.
Indeed, there will be a huge relief among those connected with Aberdeen that this has not ended up in an even more signifcant blow for their player.
Given it is one of their own supporters who has caused this for one of their own players will only add to the anger that will be felt about this.
As a result strong action is sure to be taken against anyone who is found responsible over this incident, which is crucial in the interests of safety given how dangerous this could have been.
