Jacob Ramsey, Anthony Elanga react to William Osula amid Newcastle transfer links

Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa stars have reacted to a message from Newcastle United striker William Osula amid recent transfer speculation about them.

Eddie Howe‘s side are preparing for a return to the Champions League for the 2025/26 season, and will be looking to strengthen their squad ahead of that.

However, Newcastle are yet to make a single first-team signing in the summer transfer window, leading to some fan frustration.

Even so, the Magpies have been linked with a number of potential targets as they look to give their manager the options he needs.

As they look to boost their options out wide, Newcastle have recently been credited with an interest in Anthony Elanga at Nottingham Forest.

Meanwhile, a potential swap deal between Harvey Barnes and Aston Villa ace Jacob Ramsey has also been the subject of some speculation.

While the club continue their search for new signings, Osula was in action for Denmark Under-21s on Thursday (12 June).

The Newcastle striker came off the bench to score the winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Ukraine in the opening game of their Euro 2025 campaign.

After the game, Osula took to Instagram to reflect on that success, as he wrote: “Goal Assist 3 points”.

In response, both Elanga and Ramsey were among those to show their support for the 21-year-old by liking that post.

Newcastle United set for busy summer

Football Insider Verdict

While they may not have made any signings just yet, there will surely still be plenty of business done at St James’ Park in the market.

Newcastle need to make additions to cope with the extra demands of European football, and the expectation to challenge for more silverware after winning the League Cup.

That situation should make them an attractive proposition for potential signings, and the likes of Elanga and Ramsey would be useful additions for them.

Of course, other may need to depart to make room for those incomings, and there have been suggestions that Newcastle could loan out Osula for next season.

If, as was the case this season, he finds himself as the third choice centre-forward for Howe’s side, a temporary spell elsewhere that allows him more senior experience could be a better alternative.
