Jacob Ramsey, Josh Brownhill react to Burnley star James Trafford’s new message

James Trafford took to social media with a new message for his supporters as Burnley prepare for the end-of-season run-in.

Scott Parker’s side are currently third in the Championship standings, just two points behind Leeds United and Sheffield United, who are only separated by goal difference in the race for the league title.

While the Clarets are some way behind Leeds in terms of goals, their goals conceded and number of clean sheets are what have kept them in the race for automatic promotion this season.

Trafford had made a bet with club part-owner J.J. Watt that if his side kept clean sheets until the end of the season, he would come out of retirement to play American Football again.

Sadly, the 22-year-old shot-stopper was not able to deny Cardiff City, with West Brom since hitting the back of his net.

Taking to Instagram [28 March], Trafford shared a series of images from Burnley, his personal life and everything in between with the caption: “Before the run-in”.

Aston Villa ace Jacob Ramsey was one of the first stars to like the post, with Josh Brownhill commenting: “We see it” and Maxime Esteve replying: “TOWN”.

Football Insider verdict

All three clubs are under immense pressure to secure promotion back to the Premier League, but not least Leeds, who would go into their third consecutive season in the second tier if they missed out again.

This could mean the likes of Wilfried Gnonto, Dan James, Pascal Struijk and Ao Tanaka all sealing moves away from Leeds this summer, though the same could be said at Turf Moor.

The Championship title race is still a three-horse race.

Football Insider understands that Newcastle United would be open to Nick Pope’s exit, with the Magpies interested in bringing Trafford to St James’ Park as his replacement.

The Clarets could face similar situations with Brownhill, Marcus Edwards, Jaidon Anthony and Esteve, who have all experienced stellar campaigns for the Championship club.

Whatever happens, it will be a truly incredible last few weeks of Championship football, and Trafford, who has been brilliant all season, could have a vital role as Parker’s side look to pip their rivals to promotion.
