Jacob Ramsey responds to confirmed Premier League news away from Aston Villa

Aston Villa and Jacob Ramsey are set to be joined in the Premier League by some very familiar faces next season.

Ramsey has risen through the ranks of Villa’s academy to become a regular in Unai Emery’s squad, and scored his first Champions League goals this season as part of their remarkable rise under the Spaniard.

The 22-year-old has started 24 of his 41 matches for Villa this term and added four goals and five assists in all competitions, at the same time as the Lions have strengthened significantly in his wide-left position.

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Man City could launch an approach for Ramsey and his team-mate Morgan Rogers, but that Villa will do their best to keep hold of the pair.

Jacob Ramsey reacts as Burnley seal Premier League return

Villa and West Ham will be joined by another claret and blue-clad side in next season’s Premier League, after Burnley booked their immediate return to the top-flight by beating Sheffield United on Monday.

Ramsey’s brother Aaron was front and centre of Burnley’s promotion celebrations, despite playing a peripheral role in their promotion push a season on from his £14million arrival at Turf Moor back in 2023.

The younger Ramsey brother hasn’t featured this season after a serious knee injury suffered against Arsenal in February 2024 before Burnley’s relegation, but posted several photos on Instagram (22 April).

Several of Aaron Ramsey’s former Villa team-mates liked the post, such as Ezri Konsa and Ollie Watkins, while his brother Jacob left two love heart comments below the caption of: “What a group!! Premier Leaaaague!”

Jacob Ramsey given further competition at Aston Villa

In a transformative era of Champions League football and big-money arrivals at Villa Park, the elder Ramsey brother has done brilliantly to keep his place, but that could be about to get much harder.

This season alone, Emery has signed Donyell Malen, Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, all three of whom operate in the final third and can play off the left flank and have limited Ramsey’s game-time.

Rashford’s loan move from Manchester United looks likely to become permanent at season’s end, and if further additions follow this summer, Ramsey could potentially look to follow his brother out the door.
