‘Jadon Sancho’s top suitors now reluctant to sign Man United star’

Manchester United could face problems offloading out-of-favour England international Jadon Sancho this summer.

The winger scored 50 goals in 137 appearances for former club Borussia Dortmund before joining Man United in the summer of 2021.

However, Sancho has been unable to hit strong form for the Red Devils, and returned to Dortmund on loan in January 2024.

The England man subsequently headed on loan to Stamford Bridge for the duration of the 2024/25 season, but Chelsea opted against signing Sancho permanently.

Dortmund will be ‘reluctant’ to re-sign Sancho this summer

Man United will be eager to get Sancho off their wage bill, as the 25-year-old boasts no place in Ruben Amorim’s plans.

Meanwhile, Dortmund have been linked with a move to bring the winger back to the Bundesliga this summer.

However, speaking live on talkSPORT [10 June], German football expert Raphael Honigstein revealed: “I think it’s possible (that Sancho returns to Dortmund). But I’m not 100 per cent sure.

Dortmund might sell Jamie Gittens to the Premier League. That would perhaps free up the spot for him.”

Honigstein continued: “His second spell at Dortmund was okay, but wasn’t quite the unqualified sensation we saw when he broke through initially, so I think Dortmund will be slightly reluctant to invest all that money, even though they might get him at a cut-price, and he might take smaller wages.

“I still think he doesn’t reflect a lot of promise of improvement.”

Man United set for Bryan Mbeumo talks

While the Old Trafford club are facing a stumbling block in their efforts to offload Sancho, Ruben Amorim remains intent on bolstering his side’s attack this summer.

Now that Man United have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, the North West outfit’s attention has turned to their pursuit of Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

Mbeumo enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 Premier League campaign for the Bees, scoring 20 goals and creating seven assists in 38 top-flight appearances.

Meanwhile, Brentford boss Thomas Frank is set to join Tottenham, which could leave the Old Trafford side fearful that the Cameroon international could follow him to North London.

But Man United will open talks with Mbeumo, as they look to ensure that they land the 25-year-old’s signature ahead of Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Sancho is not the only Red Devils wideman who could be set for the exit door this summer, after Amorim fell out with Alejandro Garnacho.
