James Maddison and Djed Spence react to Dominic Solanke’s Tottenham message
Dominic Solanke was upbeat in a social media message as Tottenham advanced to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
Tottenham overcame a 1-0 first-leg loss to AZ Alkmaar with a commanding 3-1 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 13 March.
Solanke played a key role in the comeback, providing two assists for Wilson Odobert’s brace. His first was a selfless moment of play, capitalising on a defensive mistake before squaring it to the young winger for an easy finish. The second was a moment of brilliance—an audacious flick after a slick team move that set up Odobert once again.
The striker had been sidelined for 10 games after sustaining a knee injury in January but returned in time for the first leg. However, concerns arose when Solanke appeared to pick up another knock in that match, leaving Ange Postecoglou with a potential selection headache.
Despite the scare, Solanke made a swift recovery and played a crucial role in Tottenham’s latest European win. His comeback has been met with praise from teammates, who showed their appreciation in his latest post.
Dominic Solanke proves importance to Ange Postecoglou amid fan pressure
The Englishman posted on social media to celebrate the victory and said: “TEAM. Job done, onto the Quarters”.
His Spurs teammates were quick to show their support in the comments, with Djed Spence expressing enthusiasm by saying, “My F Striker!!” whilst James Maddison, glad to see him back in action, added, “It’s good to have you back.”
Other teammates, including goalscorer Odobert and Mickey van de Ven, also liked the post, showing solidarity with the striker.
Solanke has faced his share of criticism this season, with the striker managing just seven goals in the Premier League so far. Despite this, the Englishman has made a strong statement with his all-around contributions, providing eight assists across all competitions.
Postecoglou faces pressure despite European hopes
Although Solanke has faced criticism for his early season performances, he has proven to be an important asset to Postecoglou’s side, as they missed that focal point up top.

As for the coach, Postecoglou has faced sack pressure throughout this season as the side sit 13th in the league are out of all domestic cup competitions, but focus may have shifted to the Europa League.
If Solanke continues his good form and helps guide the team to European success, Postecoglou could find himself securing his place in Tottenham history by the end of the season.
