James Maddison and Dom Solanke react to Djed Spence’s ‘important’ Tottenham message
Djed Spence remained upbeat in a social media message after Tottenham’s most recent Premier League win.
Tottenham confirmed Southampton’s relegation with a 3-1 victory on 6 April, with Brennan Johnson scoring twice and Mathys Tel adding a penalty to seal the result.
Spence was handed a start at left-back and impressed over the full 90 minutes, registering an assist for Johnson, after driving forward and cutting the ball back neatly into the winger’s path.
It marked a much-needed win for Ange Postecoglou’s side as it was their first in four Premier League matches and Spence reflected the importance of the result in his post-match message to fans.

The Englishman posted on Instagram after the win, sharing matchday photos along with the caption: “Important 3 points today. Let’s take this momentum into Thursday. Big week ahead.”
His post was backed with likes from James Maddison, Dominic Solanke and Wilson Odobert, underlining support from his teammates.
Spence has steadily won over Tottenham fans since breaking back into the squad in recent months, working his way into a regular starting role under Ange Postecoglou.
After underwhelming loan spells at Leeds United and Genoa, Spence’s long-term future at Spurs looked uncertain, especially after being left out of the club’s initial Europa League squad earlier in the season.
However, with Destiny Udogie facing criticism and struggling with injuries, Spence has stepped in and made the left-back position his own.
Pedro Porro has also come under scrutiny from Tottenham fans during a disappointing campaign, and with right-back being Spence’s natural position, he may yet challenge on both flanks.
