James Maddison and Dominic Solanke react to Kyle Walker-Peters amid Spurs links

Kyle Walker-Peters is linked with a return to Tottenham and current stars of the club James Maddison and Dominic Solanke have both responded to his latest post.

The defender was part of the Southampton side relegated from the Premier League last season, with a dire 12 point total.

Following the expiry of his contract at St Mary’s the 28-year-old is a free agent and Thomas Frank is working on a deal to make him one of Spurs’ first signings under his management.

Walker-Peters was previously at Spurs before leaving for Saints in 2020, where he made 202 appearances over his five year spell.

Solanke spotted with Walker-Peters

Walker-Peters has been enjoying some down time before deciding on his next club.

He took to his Instagram to post a picture of himself at Silverstone alongside Spurs striker Solanke, which team mate Maddison also liked.

Solanke commented: “My dargs,” with a white love heart emoji, and Walker-Peters responded with a handshake emoji.

The 27-year-old joined Spurs last summer from Bournemouth in a £65m deal, scoring 16 goals in all competitions in his debut season at the club.

Frank adding depth amid injuries woes

Football Insider Verdict

Given the injury issues at Spurs last season, Frank is looking to add depth to his squad and the free signing of Walker-Peters is a solid choice.

The England international, who has two caps for his country, would likely provide back up for Pedro Porro and Djed Spence at right-back.

Walker-Peters’ Premier League record across his spells at Spurs and Southampton

With Spurs back in the Champions League next season, Walker-Peters would be a reliable option for Frank to be able to rotate his full-backs.

The physical pressure on the squad to perform last season when few substitutions were available, due to injuries, led to a burnout which contributed to their disastrous Premier League campaign, when they finished 17th.

Frank will want to be prepared to ensure if a repeat does occur, his squad can cope.

So far Spurs have made four signings this summer with Mathys Tel, Kevin Danso, Luka Vuskovic and Kota Takai all arriving.

The Dane has also reached an agreement to sign Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, who will become the first player to switch between the two clubs in 14 years.
