James Maddison and Kulusevski react as Van de Ven bids farewell after Tottenham exit

Micky van de Ven had a heartfelt message in a goodbye post following confirmation of a major change at Tottenham.

The Dutch defender endured a frustrating, injury-hit campaign, but remained a key figure in Ange Postecoglou’s side whenever fit.

Despite the setbacks, Van de Ven consistently impressed for when available, playing a crucial role in helping Spurs lift the Europa League.

Van de Ven’s standout performance in the final against Manchester United capped off a memorable European run, ending the club’s 17-year wait for silverware.

Now on international duty with the Netherlands, the defender still took the time to reflect emotionally on a significant development at club level.

Van de Ven sends emotional tribute to Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham confirm exit

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 1 June that Tottenham were set to sack Ange Postecoglou — a decision that was officially confirmed on 6 June.

While Richarlison had already posted a heartfelt message to Postecoglou, Van de Ven quickly followed suit with his own tribute to the outgoing manager:

“Gaffer. Thank you for everything! Believed in me from the first day I arrived at the club.

“Many ups and downs in the last two years but you kept believing in us and kept pushing us. Big part of the success from the club this year, and forever grateful that you made me part of it.

“All the best.”

The post was supported by multiple Tottenham players, including James Maddison, Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski, who all liked the post.

Despite winning Tottenham’s first major trophy in 17 years, the Australian’s position was deemed untenable by the board after a disappointing domestic campaign that saw Spurs finish 17th in the Premier League and suffer a record 22 defeats.

The decision has clearly impacted the dressing room, with several players publicly expressing their support for the former coach, creating a sense of uncertainty around the squad’s future.

Micky Van de Ven could follow Ange Postecoglou in Tottenham exit

With Postecoglou gone, there are now suggestions that several players could also move on, and the Dutch defender among those attracting attention.

Football Insider previously revealed that the Van de Ven would be open to leaving Tottenham if Real Madrid make a formal approach, with the Spanish giants long-term admirers of his profile.

Interest is also building closer within the Premier League as Football Insider also reported back in February, Liverpool are “very keen” on signing Van de Ven as a potential long-term partner for Virgil van Dijk at Anfield.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs will entertain offers, but with a major rebuild on the horizon, with Van de Ven’s future, along with several other, hangs in the balance.
