James Maddison, Dom Solanke react to Lucas Bergvall’s emotional Tottenham post

Tottenham players flocked onto social media as Lucas Bergvall sent a new message to the passionate fans in North London.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been unavailable since sustaining his ankle injury in late April, having played the entire 90 minutes of the 5-1 defeat to Arne Slot’s Liverpool.

Despite sometimes being punished for his energy and passion, trying too hard to win the ball back, Spurs fans quickly fell in love with Bergvall and were devastated by his season-ending injury.

James Maddison was also ruled out for Tottenham, joining Radu Dragusin and Dejan Kulusevski in the treatment room, but despite the setbacks, the Lilywhites still lifted the Europa League title.

Ange Postecoglou defied the odds to break Spurs’ 17-year drought for another trophy, potentially leaving Daniel Levy no other choice but to keep him in charge, and the manager should be able to welcome back several players next season.

Lucas Bergvall thankful during first season at Tottenham

Taking to Instagram (28 May), Bergvall wrote: “I want to say thank you for all your support in my first season here, for treating me as one of your own from the start.

“And to all the staff and my teammates for everything they have done to make me feel at home here. It’s been a year of learning and adapting – it hasn’t always been easy for any of us, but we know that will be better for next season, and we kept believing that we could do something special.

“Finishing my first season with three awards and especially the Europa League trophy, I feel very grateful. We will keep building!” gaining likes of James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, and the rest of the squad.

Football Insider verdict

Not only has Postecoglou lived up to his promise of winning silverware in his second season, but he has also stated that the third campaign will be even better under his leadership.

Football Insider understands, however, that Postecoglou’s future remains up in the air at Tottenham, and it is clear to see why after how his team performed in the Premier League this season.

While injuries were certainly to blame for some of the results, losing several key stars throughout the campaign, finishing 17th in the Premier League table is unacceptable for a club like Spurs.

The Australian will need to make several changes to the squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, and given the number of exit links emerging in North London, there are bound to be over the coming weeks.

Football Insider understands that Tottenham are preparing for Cristian Romero’s exit after leading Spurs to the Europa League title, with Pedro Porro, Richarlison, and Yves Bissouma also being linked with exits.
