James Maddison reacts to Dominic Solanke’s message after England omission

James Maddison was among the players to react to Dominic Solanke’s message on social media as England wrapped up preparations for their World Cup qualifier against Albania.

Thomas Tuchel is set to take charge of England for the first time on 21 March, but his squad selection has already sparked debate among supporters.

Tuchel has already faced criticism from supporters after Morgan Gibbs-White was initially left out of the squad. However, an injury to Cole Palmer led to a late call-up for the Nottingham Forest midfielder.

Another notable absence from the squad was Maddison, who has endured an up-and-down season by his usual standards. However, his Tottenham teammate Solanke did make the cut and shared an update on social media.

James Maddison ‘fallout’ with Ange Postecoglou amid Tottenham axe

Solanke shared a message on Instagram in a post, saying: “Back with the boys. Representing.” alongside images from England training.

The post received plenty of reactions, with Maddison among those engaging, while Djed Spence also liked the update.

However, despite his social media activity, all may not be well for the former Leicester midfielder at Tottenham.

There are suggestions that Maddison and Ange Postecoglou may have had a falling out, with the midfielder slipping to a rotational role in recent weeks. He was benched for recent matches against Bournemouth and Fulham, raising questions about his standing in the squad.

While Maddison has faced criticism for his performances this season, his ability to make an impact remains evident. In 38 appearances, he has scored 11 goals and provided seven assists, including nine league goals. His attacking threat from midfield could have been valuable for Tuchel’s England squad, but the new boss opted to leave him out.

Tottenham considering Marco Silva as Postecoglou faces uncertain future

With Tottenham struggling in the league and failing to meet expectations, pressure has mounted over Postecoglou’s future.

Marco Silva has emerged as a potential replacement for Postecoglou, with the Fulham manager impressing this season as his side pushes for European qualification and an FA Cup semi-final spot.

Maddison may not be too disappointed if Postecoglou departs, given his reduced role in recent weeks. However, if he hopes to force his way back into England contention, he will need to find consistent form in the final stretch of the season.
