James Trafford posts ‘brilliant’ Burnley message after Newcastle concrete offer news

James Trafford posted an update on social media after Burnley’s recent performance amid major speculation surrounding his future.

Burnley kept their push for automatic promotion on track with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Norwich on 11 April.

Hannibal Mejbri continued his impressive run of form by opening the scoring, before Jaidon Anthony added a second just before half-time to put Scott Parker’s side firmly in control.

Norwich threatened a comeback late on, with Jack Stacey pulling one back with just 14 minutes left to play. But Burnley’s formidable defence held firm in the closing stages, securing a vital three points in their promotion bid.

Trafford has drawn continued interest from Newcastle ahead of the summer transfer window, but shared a message after the result as they edge closer to a Premier League return.

James Trafford praises Burnley teammates as Newcastle ‘prepare offer’

Trafford had a simple but telling message following Burnley’s 2-1 win over Norwich, posting “Brilliant lads” alongside a series of matchday images on Instagram.

His post was met with plenty of love from teammates as Maxime Esteve and Marcus Edwards dropped likes, while CJ Egan-Riley replied: “What a guy” in a show of appreciation for the goalkeeper’s role in the win.

Despite the strong bond he clearly shares with the squad, the goalkeeper’s long-term future at Burnley remains uncertain.

Football Insider exclusively revealed that Newcastle are preparing a “concrete offer” to sign Trafford ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

With the Magpies in the market for a new first-choice keeper, Trafford’s form this season has only added to his appeal.

Under Scott Parker, he’s helped cultivate a superb defensive record that’s drawn attention from across the Premier League.

Burnley have kept 29 clean sheets this season – just one short of the all-time Football League record of 30, set by Port Vale in 1953-54 in the old Third Division North.

Maxime Esteve also attracting Premier League interest amid Burnley’s promotion push

It’s not just Trafford drawing interest from top-flight clubs. Maxime Esteve, another key figure in Burnley’s backline, could also be on the move this summer.

Football Insider revealed that Everton are keeping close tabs on Esteve, with a possible move if Jarrad Branthwaite departs Goodison Park.

Branthwaite has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid and has yet to agree a new deal at Everton, leaving his future in doubt.

Esteve’s consistency and composure in defence have made him an obvious target, but with Burnley still locked in a tense battle for automatic promotion, Parker will be hoping his defensive leaders can stay fully focused for the season’s run-in.
