James Trafford reacts after Burnley keeper’s transfer announced

James Trafford reacted to a post from Burnley on social media announcing the transfer of a goalkeeper.

After achieving promotion to the Premier League last season, the Clarets have wasted no time in the transfer market.

Zian Flemming, Marcus Edwards, Jaidon Anthony, and Bashir Humphreys have all had their temporary stays at Turf Moor made permanent.

However, plenty more reinforcements will be needed if Scott Parker‘s side are to have any hopes of avoiding relegation next season.

The need for additions has been exacerbated by CJ Egan-Riley’s departure to Marseille, and concerns that Maxime Esteve and Trafford may follow the defender out of the door, leaving Burnley without the core of their record-breaking backline.

Burnley sign goalkeeper Max Weiss

The Clarets shared an image of their new signing on Instagram, captioned: “Burnley Football Club are pleased to confirm the arrival of goalkeeper Max Weiß from Karlsruher SC on a four-year deal. Welcome to Burnley, Max”.

Newcastle transfer target Trafford reacted to the announcement by liking the post, showing support for the new arrival to Turf Moor.

Burnley’s survival largely dependent on outgoings

Football Insider Verdict

For most promoted sides, their fortunes are defined by the players they bring in, and the same is applicable for Burnley.

However, with interest in Trafford, Esteve, and Josh Brownhill, the Claret’s fate will largely be determined by their ability to keep the core of their team together.

There was no better defence in English football last year than Burnley‘s and whilst the Premier League is a different beast, the strong performances will likely carry over.

But having lost Egan-Riley, keeping Trafford and Esteve becomes the new top priority.

The English shot-stopper looked destined for a move to Newcastle, but with the Magpies seemingly struggling to get their summer window up and running, Burnley may have an opportunity to keep hold of the former Man City man.
