James Trafford sends cryptic message away from Burnley as ‘Newcastle plan new offer’
Newcastle target James Trafford posted a mysterious message on social media which may have fuelled speculation over his Burnley future.
Trafford has become one of Burnley’s standout performers since arriving at Turf Moor, playing a key role in their promotion campaign last season.
The Clarets narrowly missed out on the Championship title, finishing level on points with Leeds United but losing out on goal difference after Manor Solomon scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner on the final day.
Despite the disappointment, Burnley still ended the season with an impressive 100 points, and Trafford etched his name into the record books with a staggering 29 clean sheets.
However, his standout season may have come at a cost for Scott Parker’s side. Football Insider revealed on 11 July that Newcastle are preparing a new offer for Trafford, having already seen several bids turned down.
With his future now uncertain, the Englishman took to social media with a cryptic message that may have added further fuel to the ongoing transfer speculation.

James Trafford posts message away from Burnley camp amid Newcastle interest
Trafford has shared an update revealing he is currently away from Burnley’s pre-season training camp.
Instead of joining the rest of the squad, he posted from the gym with a cryptic caption that caught the eye, writing: “On a mission.”

With growing speculation over his future, Burnley may already be preparing for life without him.
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 18 July that Burnley are actively planning to find a replacement for Trafford.
This follows an earlier report from Brown in April, which revealed that Newcastle are ready to sign Trafford, regardless of whether Burnley achieved promotion, having identified him as their top goalkeeping target.
Concerns remain over Nick Pope’s long-term availability following recent injury struggles, and the Magpies appear determined to bring in a long-term option between the sticks.
Newcastle suffer Hugo Ekitike setback amid striker search

While the Magpies remain in pursuit of Trafford, it appears they may have missed out on another key target further up the pitch.
Reports suggest Hugo Ekitike has now agreed personal terms with Liverpool, with Newcastle having had a bid rejected just days prior.
Although this could indicate that Alexander Isak is set to stay on Tyneside, it also means the club are likely to miss out on yet another attacking addition in the current window, with the likes of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Bryan Mbeumo choosing other options.
