Jamie Carragher delivers his verdict on Everton and Tom Davies after Man City win

By Amir Mir

Jamie Carragher hailed Everton after their 4-0 win over Manchester City at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

Sky Sports pundit Carragher also expressed his happiness that striker Romelu Lukaku didn’t get a touch for Tom Davies’ “wonder goal”.

Luakaku opened the scoring for the home team in the first half before winger Kevin Mirralas doubled his side’s advantage after the break despite City dominating possession.

Midfielder Davies then scored his first goal for the club when his magnificent dink outfoxed goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

Substitute Ademola Lookman then made the win emphatic in injury time when he fired between the legs of Bravo.

After the game, Carragher lauded the display of Ronald Koeman’s side but was critical of the Manchester club as posted on his personal Twitter account.

Davies, who is a product of the club’s academy, has played eight league games for the Toffees this season, providing one assist and scoring one goal.

The 18-year-old will be hoping to get a further run in the team when Koeman’s side travel to London to take on Crystal Palace next Saturday.

They will then face Stoke at the start of February before hosting Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth three days later.

The Merseyside club are seventh in the league table on 33 points from 21 games, seven points behind sixth-placed Manchester United who drew 1-1 with Liverpool on Sunday.
