Stan Collymore delivers two-word verdict on Tom Davies after Everton win against Man City

By Amir Mir

Stan Collymore has stated that Tom Davies “can play” after he helped Everton beat Manchester City 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at Goodison Park.

The 18-year-old pulled the strings in the middle of the park as he also got on the scoresheet for Ronald Koeman’s side.

The Toffees opened the scoring when Davies linked up with Kevin Mirralas who fed striker Romelu Lukaku who slotted home.

Despite the away team dominating possession, it was Koeman’s side who doubled their advantage through Mirallas straight after the break.

Davies, who played the full match, then sealed all three points when he dinked the ball over City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

However, it was not all over yet as substitute Ademola Lookman, making his league debut, scored with his first touch minutes after coming onto the field.

During the game, former Premier League striker Collymore was impressed by Davies’ performance as posted on his personal Twitter account.

Davies has played eight Premier League games for Everton this season, providing one assist and scoring one goal.

He last featured for his side during their 2-1 FA Cup loss to Leicester City where his manager lauded his display.

The result at home means Koeman’s side have only lost one league fixture at home this season, picking up wins against title chasers Arsenal and City in the process.

They remain in seventh place with that impressive win on 33 points from 21 league games, six behind sixth-placed Manchester United and four ahead of eight-placed West Brom.

Koeman’s side will be looking to build on that win when they travel to Crystal Palace next Saturday.
