Jamie Carragher has mocked Andre Ayew after he missed an open goal during his side’s 4-0 defeat against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Sky Sports pundit Carragher stated that he would have scored the easy effort which was missed by Ayew in the first half.
The 27-year-old attacker could have levelled the scores when his shot hit the far post from two yards following a corner.
Ayew was clearly annoyed at his effort at that time as his team went on to lose the encounter by four goals.
Speaking on commentary on Sky Sports 1 during the match, Carragher was clearly shocked at Ayew’s missed chance.
“How has he missed that,” Carragher questioned on Sky Sports. “I mean, I would have scored that.”
Prior to Ayew’s missed chance, striker Daniel Sturridge had opened the scoring for the away team after a brilliant long-range pass from Phillippe Coutinho.
The Brazillian was the star of the show, scoring two goals and assisting one in a comfortable win for the Merseysiders.
That has boosted their chances of finishing in the top four as a win on the final day of the season against Middlesbrough will all but seal their Champions League place.
Over the course of the season, Ayew has played 24 Premier League games, scoring five goals and supplying two assists during his injury-hit campaign.
The Hammers purchased Ayew from Swansea last summer when he made a big-money move from the Welsh club.
In other Liverpool news, this 27-year-old is better off leaving after the win against West Ham.
