Jamie Redknapp: This 22-year-old can be key to Newcastle staying in the PL

Ex-Liverpool footballer and broadcaster Jamie Redknapp has praised Newcastle United forward Aleksandar Mitrovic and believes that he could be the key to the Magpies staying in the top flight.
The 22-year-old was left on the bench for the club’s opening games of the Premier League where his side lost to Tottenham and Huddersfield in successive weekends.
However, the Serbia goalscorer was brought on later in the second half of their clash against West Ham and scored the club’s third goal, which Redknapp believes will prevent the club from relegation once again.
“How do you solve a problem like Aleksandar Mitrovic? He is far too good to not be in Newcastle’s team but for every moment of brilliance — such as his goal against West Ham — there is danger that he will get sent off,” Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail column.
“Mitrovic is a battering ram and a brave forward who will score goals. But his stupidity often outweighs his undoubted quality.

“There are some players who never learn but if Mitrovic gets his head right, he can be the key to Newcastle staying in the Premier League.”
The former Anderlecht star has made a total of 67 appearances across all competitions since joining back in 2015, where he scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists.
Despite Redknapp’s belief in the Serb, a recent report in the Mirror transfer blog has revealed that Rafa Benitez could be tempted to sell him to Olympiakos if the Greek club meet their £20 million valuation.
While the funds from selling Mitrovic would help Benitez make some last minute signings, it seems as though it would be more beneficial to keep the young forward and give him more regular playing time.
