Former Liverpool man Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is among the best coaches in the world.
The Argentinian manager has been at the club since 2014, having joined from Premier League rivals Southampton, and has helped the Lilywhites establish themselves as a club worthy of fighting at the top end of the Premier League.
They have been involved in the title race for the past two seasons, missing out to surprise victors Leicester and then Chelsea last season.
This season has seen the club continue their fine form, currently sitting third just five points behind league leaders Manchester City and three points off second placed Manchester United.
Their latest outing saw them draw 1-1 with Spanish giants Real Madrid in their Champions League group clash, and Redknapp believes that Los Blancos could be making a move for him in the future, naming Pochettino as one of the best managers in the world.
He told Sky Sports’ podcast The Debate (17/10): “They have one of the best managers in terms of his development of players; he improves footballers and also tactically he’s as good as anyone.
“He could manage any club in the world make no mistake. Tottenham are very very lucky to have him.
“People are talking about Harry Kane maybe going to Real Madrid, but maybe someone like him as well, unless he gets looked after.”
Pochettino has overseen 175 matches in charge of Tottenham across all competitions, having won 96 of those encounters and scoring 326 goals and conceding 175.
Spurs’ next clash will see them host Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday, with the Reds having demolished Maribor 7-0 in their Champions League clash on Tuesday.
