‘Jamie Vardy wanted to back up Dominic Solanke at Tottenham’
Jamie Vardy will leave Leicester City at the end of this season, but many believe that the veteran striker can still cut it in the Premier League.
Vardy, 38, has scored eight Premier League goals for Leicester this season in what has been a dismal survival attempt from the Foxes.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s side were relegated back down to the Championship with five games still remaining and have just one win since January.
Former England striker Vardy has found the net 199 times in his 13 years at the club and will be hoping to bring up a double century of goals before he departs in the summer.
The forward was a vital part of the Leicester side that shocked the world to win the Premier League in 2015/16 and now the question is where he will play next season.

Vardy touted for shock Tottenham move
With his departure looming, rumours have already begun about where the veteran Englishman will be playing his football come next season.
Both Burnley and Leeds United have been tipped as potential destinations for Vardy, after the pair were promoted from the Championship.
However, talkSPORT (3 May) pundit Jamie O’Hara believes that his former club Tottenham should be looking to bring the Englishman to North London, saying live on air: “I’d have him at Tottenham, not to play every week but as a back-up to (Dominic) Solanke.
“He’s better than Mathys Tel and (Wilson) Odobert, he’s scored eight Premier League goals in this terrible Leicester side.
“He still looks sharp, he still looks fit, he’s still quick. I think he’s not going to be short of suitors.”
Vardy is still Premier League level
Vardy is undoubtedly a Premier League legend, currently sitting 14th in the all-time top goalscorer list, and has proved over the last year that he still has the knack of scoring goals.
Rank | Name | Goals |
12 | Les Ferdinand | 149 |
13 | Teddy Sheringham | 146 |
14 | Jamie Vardy | 144 |
14 | Robin Van Persie | 144 |
16 | Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink | 127 |
The former England international is Leicester’s top scorer this season and, if he were provided with a better level of service, could still be useful in the top flight.
At 38, he’s not going to play every week, so whoever signs him will have to ensure that they have another goalscorer in their ranks to shoulder some of the load.
There have been suggestions that Vardy and Wrexham would be a match made in heaven, after the Welsh club clinched promotion to the Championship, but the striker clearly still has ambitions to play at the top level.
The Leicester legend has at least one more season of Premier League football in his locker before he begins to drop down the divisions as his long and distinguished career comes to a close.
