Everton unimpressed by Man United’s ‘derisory’ Jarrad Branthwaite bid – sources

Everton are seriously unimpressed by Man United’s opening Jarrad Branthwaite bid and privately insist they have no plans to let him go.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed Sean Dyche’s focus will be on ensuring Branthwaite remains at Goodison Park despite major player sales likely to be on the cards over the coming weeks.

The England international has drawn the attention of multiple top clubs following several impressive performances since breaking into the first team last season.

Football Insider revealed on 4 June Branthwaite makes up part of a three-man shortlist of potential central defensive signings at Man United this summer.

The 21-year-old has now agreed personal terms with the Manchester giants and talks between the two clubs will take place this weekend after an opening offer of £35million was knocked back.

Everton’s stance on United’s bid is that it is “derisory” and is nowhere near the value of a Premier League rising star who is knocking on England’s door and capable of being a Champions League calibre player for the next decade.

Everton are holding out for a fee in the region of £90million for the centre-back, who is under contract on Merseyside until 2027 after penning a new deal last October.

Jarrad Branthwaite exit could be on the cards as Everton talks scheduled

It’s been a breakout year for Branthwaite in the Premier League after forcing his way into the Everton starting lineup on his return from his fruitful loan spell with PSV Eindhoven.

The centre-back has impressed in his 41 appearances for the Merseyside giants over the past nine months after helping his side secure their top-flight status for another season.

Football Insider revealed last month Goodison chiefs want to keep hold of Branthwaite as they look to persuade him to remain with the club for another season.

But that may not be possible after Football Insider revealed last month Everton will need to sell at least one of their “big” stars before they submit their accounts at the end of June to help balance the books.

Talks are now set to take place between the Merseysiders and Man United over the weekend as Old Trafford chiefs look to thrash out a deal for the defender.
