Jarrod Bowen: Newcastle’s three-man signing plan revealed by top source
Newcastle United have added Jarrod Bowen to a three-man shortlist of potential right-wing signings this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the West Ham star is joined on the list by Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville.
Eddie Howe is believed to be targeting a new right winger as well as a striker and a central defender ahead of the transfer window reopening.
The Newcastle boss appears to have already got his wish in terms of drafting in a new centre-back after Football Insider revealed on 7 June a deal has been agreed to sign Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer from Bournemouth.
But O’Rourke admitted deals for Bowen, 27, Williams, 21, and Summerville, 22, may be harder to complete as the attacking trio could be out of the Tynesiders price range due to their profit and sustainability (PSR) issues.
Bowen is under contract until 2030, while Williams’s deal runs out in 2027 and Summerville is tied down at Leeds until 2026.
Jarrod Bowen heads Newcastle list of summer targets
Howe is looking to add to his attacking options despite his side registering 85 goals in the Premier League last season – the fourth-highest record in the league.
Finances are likely to dictate what business Newcastle can afford to do after Football Insider previously revealed they will need to sell one of their stars this summer to avoid breaching the Premier League’s spending rules.
Bowen has been linked with the north-east giants as well as several top clubs after the England international registered 20 goals and 10 assists in 44 appearances last season.

But a deal for Summerville could be easier to complete after Football Insider revealed last month the Dutchman is set to push for a move away from Leeds following their promotion failure last season.
Yankuba Minteh, 19, is set to return to St James’ Park following his fruitful loan spell at Feyenoord, but Football Insider revealed on 9 June Newcastle could accept a £25million bid for him this summer.
In other news, a new update has emerged on the future of Bruno Guimaraes.
