Jeremy Doku reacts to Savinho’s message after Man City development – ‘Wow’
Savinho and Jeremy Doku shone for Manchester City as they ended their group stage campaign in style at the Club World Cup.
Pep Guardiola‘s side had already booked their passage into the last 16 of FIFA’s new-look tournament after 2-0 and 6-0 victories over Wydad Casablanca and Al Ain respectively, ahead of facing Juventus.
The two sides sat joint-top of Group G prior to kick-off in Orlando, but Man City quickly overcame Teun Koopmeiners‘ early equaliser and took a 2-1 lead into half-time before pulling away in the second period.
A dominant second half after Pierre Kalulu’s own goal saw City score three more times and put Juventus to the sword, with Dusan Vlahovic‘s late strike a mere consolation as the Blues ran out 5-2 winners.

Savinho sends message after Man City breakthrough
A series of Man City’s brand-new players shone against Juventus as the Serie A side were well beaten to a first-placed finish in Group G, but all four of City’s goalscorers were players with points to prove.
Doku rubber-stamped his starting place on the left flank with a ninth-minute opener, while Phil Foden and Erling Haaland netted in the second half after disappointing individual campaigns by their standards.
Savinho had already set up Foden’s strike before adding City’s fifth and final goal six minutes later in an all-action display, and the Brazilian took to Instagram (27 June) with the one-word message of: “God!”
Doku had already been replaced by Foden just three minutes before Savinho teed up the England international’s strike off the bench, and he commented on the 21-year-old’s post to say: “Wow”.
Man City reap rewards from early transfer business
Football Insider Verdict
Last season was the first since 2016–17 in which Man City failed to win a trophy, but the Club World Cup has given Guardiola’s side a chance to right those wrongs and they’re taking it with both hands.
City’s three group stage games have seen them score 13 goals and concede just two to win Group G at a canter, as new signings Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri impressed with the latter getting an assist.
Rayan Cherki’s arrival completed a rapid-fire outlay which saw over £110million spent prior to the Club World Cup, and as clubs like Arsenal stall over their own transfer business this summer, it’s safe to say that City have given themselves a head-start.
