Jermaine Jenas: This Tottenham ace has made a massive impact since Kane injury (not Alli)

By Matt Bullin

Former Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder Jermaine Jenas has heaped praise on Heung-Min Son after Spurs thrashed Watford 4-0 on Saturday.

Son scored a fine brace as Tottenham completed a demolition job on Watford at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

Dele Alli and Eric Dier also struck, before Son wrapped up the win in style, though he spurned a late chance for a hat-trick when he volleyed against the bar.

The win meant Tottenham kept pace with the Premier League’s leaders Chelsea but are still seven points behind them, with seven games to go.

Speaking on BBC 1’s Match of the Day (Saturday 10.30pm) Jenas praised the South Korean’s performance.

Jenas said: “He’s kicked on from last season. He’s always trying to create things.

“He’s having a massive impact. He’s one of the players who has stood up and made things happen [when Kane’s been out of the side].”

Son’s brace means he now has 11 goals and seven assists in 27 Premier League games this term.

He has 18 goals in all competitions – having made 39 league and cup appearances.

Son, 24, grabbed his chance to start up top for Spurs while Harry Kane was out injured, after the England striker limped off against Millwall.

He scored seven goals and made two assists in 322 minutes – meaning he contributed to a goal every 36 minutes while Kane was out.

With Kane now back from injury and Son in red-hot form Tottenham fans will be hoping a Chelsea slip-up will allow their side a shot at the title.
