Joao Pedro and Evanilson react to Murillo’s message after Nottingham Forest blow
Nottingham Forest star Murillo received the attention of Premier League stars on social media after being knocked out of the FA Cup.
Nuno Espirito Santo, who Forest are trying to tie down to a new deal, has reached new heights at The City Ground this season, taking his side to Wembley Stadium for the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday, 27 April.
Sadly, it was not to be for the Reds as Man City took the lead through Rico Lewis after just two minutes, and Josko Gvardiol doubled just six minutes into the second half with a powerful header.
Despite a surge of late chances in the closing stages, Pep Guardiola‘s side advanced to the final, with Crystal Palace awaiting them at Wembley Stadium, but Murillo tried to remain positive.
Murillo remains positive despite Nottingham Forest defeat
Taking to Instagram (28 April), Murillo wrote: “What a wonderful crowd! We are very grateful for your support. It was not the result we wanted, but we know that we have 5 more wars ahead of us.
“We really need your help so that, together, we can make a dream come true,” signed off with red and white hearts, with the post being liked by Brighton’s Joao Pedro and Bournemouth’s Evanilson.

Football Insider verdict
With an extra Champions League qualification spot now available, Forest’s chances of grabbing a top-five finish have certainly improved, but current form needs to change rather quickly.
There are just five matches of the campaign remaining, but having won just two of their last four league matches, the Reds have slipped to sixth in the Premier League table and into the Europa League spot.
Premier League standings | Points |
3. Newcastle United | 62 |
4. Man City | 61 |
5. Chelsea | 60 |
6. Nottingham Forest | 60 |
Missing out on the Champions League could have dire consequences ahead of the summer transfer window, especially with the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White linked with a move to Man City.
Murillo was also linked with a Chelsea switch following the winter transfer window, and considering how well the season has been, other clubs are expected to come knocking at The City Ground.
Thankfully, a lot can change in five matches. Leicester City and West Ham are two of the easier opponents, but Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Brentford could also all seal three more points.
