Joe Gomez ‘needs to leave Liverpool right now’ as move to Euro giants tipped – pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Joe Gomez to quit Liverpool in the summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Gomez “needs to leave now” if he wants to keep his slim chance of making Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad alive.
An Aston Villa source told Football Insider on Monday (21 February) Steven Gerrard has made the defender his number one priority ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old will enter the final two years of his contract in the summer and Liverpool may be forced to accept a £30million offer.
He made his first Premier League start since a 1-1 draw with Man City in November 2020 in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Norwich City on Saturday (19 February).
“I feel like Gomez needs to leave right now,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Trent Alexander-Arnold rarely misses games so he’s not going to get in at right-back. At centre-back, you’ve got Konate, Van Dijk and Matip all in front of him.
“He needs to go now and play some regular football.
“We’ve seen players like Tomori go to AC Milan and start again. Gomez could easily do something similar and join a Euro giant.
“I’m sure he’ll have aspirations of going to the World Cup so he will want to play some football because otherwise he’s got no chance.”

Gomez has played 134 times across all competitions for Liverpool and was a key part of the side that won the 2019-20 Premier League title.
He has also earned 11 England caps and started the first three internationals of the 2020-21 campaign before his serious injury that was picked up in training with Southgate’s squad.
In other news, Liverpool could sign the next Mohamed Salah after an ‘exceptional’ update.
