Joe Royle has compared Everton trio, Tom Davies, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Mason Holgate to Tottenham ace Harry Kane when talking about the balance of developing young talent.
Club legend Royle has worked closely with the Toffees stars, who have since broken into the first team this season and impressed the supporters.
Midfielder Davies scored an impressive solo goal against Manchester City earlier on in the campaign and has since looked at ease in the middle of the park.
When given the opportunity versatile defender Holgate has not looked out of place and fitted in well under Ronald Koeman.
By contrast, forward Calvert-Lewin scored his first goal for the club when he started his first Premier League fixture last Saturday against Hull.
Royle compared them with Spurs’ first team regular Kane who has since gone on to become one of the most feared strikers in the country after having to work his way up into the senior team.
“Look at Harry Kane, he had been on four loans before he went back to Tottenham and then started to turn into England’s top striker,” Royle told Sky Sports. “There’s a number of players who have gone down that route of going on loan first and then coming back.
“It’s a matter of who we can let go without depleting the Under-23 team too much as they’re currently top of their league and it’s a trophy we dearly want to win, but at the same time we have got to have an eye on development.”
Prior to his debut for Spurs, Kane spent a number of spells out on loan at Millwall, Leyton Orient and Leicester City.
He won the golden boot for England’s top flight last season, beating the likes of Sergio Aguero, Diego Costa and Jamie Vardy to that prize.
At this moment in time, the England international is on the sidelines with injury, but he has still found the back of the net on 19 occasions in 22 matches.
In other Everton news, supporters have urged Ronald Koeman to sign this reported 24-year-old.
